Its Coral... Whatever

Fall time is great as you can start wearing warm socks, slippers, sweaters, scarfs and the list goes on.. I love bundling up and wearing scarves. I never really mind cold weather, it just means that you have to wear more and dress smartly. One of the most important parts is to keep your feet warm. That's why I love woolen socks and my UGGs. I got these lovely slippers a while back and already broke the sole, too bad they were really warm to wear. I seem to wear out more slippers than I can keep up with. Maybe I drag my feet or something, dunno what the reason but it makes for a good Christmas gift idea for me. I had a sudden urge to get the coral Whatever shirt because it was just so soft but not too thick. Now I'm always afraid to wear it as I have a tendency to mess up all my shirts. Haha.. Thats why I shouldn't wear white. Yet I have noticed that I have a preference for lighter colors and more feminine style. I guess thats related to growing up and finding my own style. I still don't think I have a clear style, but I don't think that matters. I wear what I like and sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn't. For me the main thing is feeling comfortable and feeling good and confident.

I always admire pictures taken of stars but found its quite hard to do. There are so many things to take into consideration and still after all the preparation you end up with not so good results. One night I tried to take pictures of stars and this is what I end up with. I'll have to try it again..

Filter your world

I got some new filters for my camera that help to intensify colors. I'm still practicing how to use them properly, but like in the above picture it helped to make the lake have a more intense color. I also tried out another with the fall colors that I'll be posting later on. I'd really like to try one of the filters during sunset but haven't really had the chance yet as I'm mostly stuck at home. Maybe next summer then. Can't wait to test these with snow, though I heard this winter will have very little snow. I realized I didn't take a picture of the actual filter set so maybe I'll post that later on if I remember. My memory hasn't really been the best of late. Also my ability to tell time has been effected but oh well, time is a relative concept anyway.

March in May

A blog called Fatmumslim has months were they inspire people to take pictures every day according to the words or phrases given. I did this in March and apparently I'm super fast in posting these as it already is May.. truly better late than never. Hope you guys enjoy and sorry for the long break!

Oh the Lights

I got a little creative with my camera the other day, one friend of mine tried out a bokeh kit of theirs so I decided to make my own. Though I think my lens is a bit too big for this, but it was fun to do. I had to take my little baby the camera to be repaired and now I feel so empty without it. I hope I can get it back soon. I'm somewhat tired after last weeks work so this post will be short. Hope everyone had a nice week and a relaxing weekend!

Mirror mirror on the Wall

I am a person that loves pictures and loves taking them, except of myself. I can come up with poses and all but once someone else is taking a picture of me I become shy. I freeze and make awkward stiff blaah poses. Well something to work on anyway, so heres some pictures taken with placing a camera on a table and hoping for the best. I really wanna take some pictures with models, any one interested???

Keksin kyllä paljon asentoja mutta heti kun joku muu ihminen on ottamassa musta kuvaa ni jäädyn. No pitää kai ruveta vähän harjottelemaan, mutta tässä on pari pöydän päällä kamera viritelmä kuvia. Voisin mielelläni ottaa kuvia ihmisistä, kiinnostaako ketään?

Life's Memories In Your Pocket

I love photographs, there is nothing better in my mind to eternalize moments in ones life. I especially like having pictures framed and spread out so that they are always visible and with you. I always knew about polaroid cameras but until last fall I didn't really know they still excited. I have to say, it is a great tool to capture a special moment and share with your friends instantaneously. I hadn't considered getting one yet, but my panda surprised me for Christmas. I wish I could say its been in high use, but truthfully the film is expensive so we have been saving it for special occasion as that is what I love to use it for.  

Mä rakastan valokuvia, mun mielestä se on paras tapa ikuistaa hetki. Erityisesti tykkään pistellä kuvia kehyksiin ja kaikkialle näkyviin. Tiesin kyllä mikä polaroid kamera on, mutten tiennyt et niitä vieläkin on olemassa kunnes viime syksyllä kaveriltani löyty sellainen. Minusta se on täydellinen erikoisiin tilanteisiin jotka halutaan muistaa ja jakaa ystävien kanssa. En ollut ajatellut hankkia tälläistä kameraa vielä mutta minut yllätettiin jouluna iloisesti. Tosin en ole uskaltanut käyttää kameraa paljoa kun filmin hinta on kova, mutta kuten sanoin se on niitä hetkiä varten ku haluaa jakaa kuvan kaverin kanssa. Kiva pikku vehje mun mielestä.

Now people don't get me wrong, I don't drink milk as much as I should. I just happen to drink a lot of tea and I like to have milk in my tea. Thats all. Plus the milk cartons have such cool designs of late.

Men talk of killing time, while time quietly kills them

Time, for most there isn't enough of it in a day. People rush with their daily lives, work overtime and find that there is not enough time for everything. So most people take out of their private life, yet to me that is a mistake. Sure success requires time and dedication, but a sound mind is a mind that has its rest each day. I don't believe that people should over stress themselves. They should enjoy the task they have but also be able to enjoy life itself. There are so many things people take for granted, such as a lazy sunday. I'd rather give up being successful to be happy, yet with my mentality of doing everything perfectly I'll admit I have spent many nights finishing off assignments. But the key here is to have balance, your life will not end if your take a break and take care of yourself. Time is a valuable thing, spend it wisely do not waste all of it on things you do not enjoy doing.

The Challenge Continues

Been a little lazy to post these challenge pictures, been watching a lot of horror movies lately. Mostly Final Fantasy series films, some deaths in those films are so fake but hey they are entertaining. I love horror movies, but not the ones with a lot of blood and core. Though I like zombie movies, lol. It's the exception to the rule, which strengths it. Anyway here goes days 6 through 9, enjoy.

5. 10 am

Well I must admit I was still sleeping at 10 am, so rather than take a picture of my bed I just took a picture of the room as it is while I sleep. Quiet and peaceful. I'm quite happy with this weekend, it was relaxing and nice, don't want this to end.

A Year Has Passed

Still happy and strong, ready for many more! I spent this glorious day with artsy work and made a photo album, yet I did not finish as all good stories doesn't have an end but multiple chapters aka albums. Anyways point of this post was to introduce this cool challenge I found online and I encourage people to take part in it. So I'm a few days behind but hey 4 pictures in one post :)

Sudden Panic

Suddenly today a strange feeling of panic came upon me. Perhaps it wasn't panic but a realization that time had passed by quickly. Today my credits jumped from 101 to 150 meaning that I need 15 credits for courses, 15 from my thesis and 30 for practical training. The process of writing my thesis is already underway and courses are being studied at the pace of 19 credits. So technically I will have everything done about academics this spring. Then all I need to do is a practical training. So graduation is close at hand. YAAY.

Ok too personal for a change. The cold weather that we have here in Finland reminded me of some pictures I have taken in similar weathers. I did try to wonder out these past days, just the cold that I have is not permitting me to move or be awake that much. I really love winter time, especially when you have lots of snow and its really cold. The cold temperature makes the snow look like diamonds. I have this quote about the snow but its in Finnish, so this is my attempt to translate it:

"Diamonds on the snow? Lapland surprise always, frost even builds a road for a prices to walk on."

Somehow snow covered trees are just so magical to me. Everything about snow is, well not that wet kind of snow or the time when snow melts. For me I hate rainy weather, I don't like having my socks wet. Yet I like light rain of summer, just not poring rain.

I was pondering today about making a outfit post, since I got some neat clothes from Canada that would be nice to post about. Yet since my shopping habits are on a freeze I don't know how long I could keep up with it or maybe I can demonstrate how to survive outside the modern consumer focused life. Dunno if anyone will be interested but I could give it a try. Anyway the point here is to show the things I find beautiful. I might not be to most fashionable person, but I wear what I like and I'm happy with that.

Well this seems the end of this post, I'm going to try to take some pictures today as I'm going to Helsinki. I always feel funny taking pictures in Helsinki, since I've been there so many times with my sister that it seems to familiar yet I have so few pictures from there. So time to feel like a tourist today.

Fishy Fishy

I've always dreamed about having a fisheye lens for my camera, but instead my mom got me a bigger lens than the original one I had. Ok so my mom was actually smart about this. Anyway the other day I stumbled upon this app in the app store for a fish eye effect and tadaa here are the results. The quality kinda sucks or then its just the lack of light lol. Lets see if its better in sunlight.
